Welcome to WinRARfreedownload.com. Here you will find everything you wanted to know about the archive software program known as WinRAR. We’ll show you comparisons to other archive software and the pros and cons of each.
Below is an example of the type of information you will find on our site. This is a comparison between WinRAR and WinZip:
WinRAR Analysis
WinRAR is known for being very practical and user friendly. You can easily customize the buttons and menus to create uniquely accessible operations for your archives. WinRAR’s menus offer access to all the most important archive commands, such as, extract, test, comment, protect, lock, scan, convert and hardware test.
Some of these terms may be unfamiliar to many of you, but if these commands are part of what you need to run your business or do your job, you know how essential they are to have at your fingertips. There’s not as many command options with WinRAR as compared to WinZip but the ones that are available are the ones that users need most.
Therefore, the consensus seems to be that very few find the lack of extra commands bothersome. Also, WinRAR supports 14 different file formats and will compress files to .rar, zip and to .exe. For some this is a big plus over WinZip that will only compress to .zip.
WinZip Analysis
The WinZip main screen has a simple and straightforward design. It has the most important function buttons at the top. A feature that may be inconvenient to some, is the fact that you can’t browse through your computer files while inside WinZip. If you want to open an archive, you must use the Open button. This can be problematic if you can’t remember the name of the file you want to open.
The Actions menu contains all important functions of WinZip. There are a variety of other menus WinZip offers, but you will most likely use the Actions menu most often, if not exclusively. If you want to add, delete, view, or extract an archive you go to the Actions menu. Basically, the Action menu contains all the functions you need to save and open all your files.
You can also use other tools such as; virus scan, split archive, encrypt, test, or make the file .exe. That’s important for security reasons. An .exe file is very difficult to open in an unauthorized manner. Currently, WinZip’s 10th major version supports 18 file formats. This is great if you use a lot of different file formats. However, WinZip will only archive files to the zip format.
The one thing WinZip is really good at is the speed at which it compresses files. Depending on why and how you want to compress your files, speed may or may not be that important to you. WinZip came out way ahead of WinRAR and every other compression software it went up against in compression speed. All audio, video, music, graphic and document files compressed faster with WinZip.
